Most people die within 25 miles of where they are born. They seldom venture out beyond their comfort zone for fear of the unknown. For Jameel Davis (DJ Meel) the need to grow and continue to develop his craft created opportunities that only flourished by growing wings.
DJ Meel is a Clevelander all the way, born and raised right here in Northeast Ohio graduating from Cleveland Heights High School. His aspirations of creating something special was born out of blogging that started with Rich Paul. The blog, 8081, focused on success, brotherhood and attacking your goals. That Blog started what would become the foundation of how DJ Meel and his team operates today.
“We keep everything in the family. If one of us has some success, then we all succeed.” DJ Meel said.
The family, as they call it, consists of Rich Paul, Edward Duck Givens, Kelton Crenshaw, and DJ Stepfloss.
A group of friends that fiercely protect each other by keeping their circle small and their business to themselves. Lebron James sits as the head of the family and through his business ventures, only employs those that he trusts. DJ Meel moved to California when the Lebron James camp moved and continues to DJ and work within the businesses that “The Family” owns.
Loyal within this group is the glue that holds them together. These are the traits that we all aspire to, but few achieve when it comes to working with others in a business environment. DJ Meel has taken the concept of family to heart and thrives using the family’s principles as a guide.
“I try to work hard every day on my mind, craft, and body. I bike over 100 miles a week and it keeps me mentally strong as well as physically strong.” DJ Commented.
DJ Meel has branched out away from just doing family events. He has done shows for Bobby Wagner, Shareef O’Neil the son of Shaquille O’Neil, rapper Asap Furg, and Joe Haden the Cleveland Browns former cornerback.
. Recently DJ Meel started working as a music supervisor on several projects to expand his services.
“One of the things that I really would like to do more of is serve as a music supervisor on production sets.” DJ Meel continued, “I recently helped with the music on Uninterrupted, a show produced by a company called Springhill.”
Becoming a music supervisor expands DJ Meel’s services beyond working as a DJ. His goals for 2021 are simple, continue to spread his wings, learn as much about the music industry as possible, and continue to support the family by being the best at his craft. The future is bright for DJ Meel, as bright as the California sky. Keep up to date with DJ Meel by following him on Instagram #DJMEEL.
