Finally! We finally get what we used to expect. A movie filled with twists and turns, a good plot, and a ton of fun at the same time. Well, if you don’t have anything to do this weekend and you would like to be scared for an hour and a half, check out Resident Evil.
The 2026 version of Resident Evil starts simple. The film follows a medical courier who finds himself in a desperate fight for survival against bloodthirsty, mutated creatures.
Austin Abrams stars as Bryan, an everyday medical courier driving through the dark with a vital delivery (like a donor organ).
The story takes place during a single fateful night in Raccoon City, running concurrently with the timeline and events of the original Resident Evil 2 game, but viewed from the perspective of an ordinary person on the periphery.
The good news is you do not have to understand the video game or other movies to enjoy this one. And, if you are not into scary movies, you are in luck because this film is more comedy than anything.
Don’t get me wrong, it scares you at every opportunity. But it’s more gross than scary. It’s also better than evil. Fun in a way movies used to be. The audience will yell at the screen as things happen.
The best part of Resident Evil 2026 is you never know what to expect next. You will escape into the world of everything on the screen and you will lean in your seat to see what is around the corner.
You might even grab the person sitting next to you. No real movie stars, no crazy budget, not one city was exploded for the sake of something stupid. Oh, and there was not one superhero getting his/her butt kicked in this film.
It had no deep plot, and it didn’t try to explain everything like a Rubik’s Cube. It was 90s movie fun where you didn’t know the movie was over until it was over. 90 minutes flew by. If you notice, this review does not offer a plot synopsis. You will have to go see it for yourself.
But if you do, be warned: you might need to go home and watch a cartoon to calm your mind down. I give this a 4 out of 5 stars. Excellent Movie.
